Lagos — The Minister of Marine & Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola has said that the Inland Dry Port project is a catalyst for industrial development, employment creation and revenue generation in Nigeria.

He stated this at the ground-breaking ceremony of Gateway Inland Dry Port in Itori, Ewekoro Local Government Area, Ogun State, while reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to develop Inland Dry Port projects in the country.

The Minister, who commended the State Government for the pivotal role it has played on the project, called on the Nigerian Shippers’ Council to work closely with the host state government and stakeholders in order to aid the development of Gateway Inland Dry Port project.

In his address, the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, said the State has placed the development of Dry Port at the forefront since his assumption of office. Abiodun also harped on the importance of the Gateway Inland Dry Port project in the State.

“This dry port project is a testament of my administration’s commitment to make Ogun State a business haven. The project will aid industrial activities and address the hardship of travelling to Lagos for shipping businesses”, he said.

Also speaking, His Royal Highness, the paramount ruler of Yewa Land, Kehinde Olugbenle, expressed delight that the ground breaking ceremony of Gateway Inland Dry Port became a reality. He called on the Federal government to expedite actions on the construction of the road to the port.

Ogun State Commissioner of Transport, Hon. Gbenga Dairo, described the Gateway Inland Dry Port as a laudable initiative of the State Government and appreciated key players’ role in the project.
