    Jascon 20 rescues 9 from sinking vessel off Bayelsa

    Jascon 2012 July 2013, Lagos – The multi-purpose vessel, Jascon 20, belonging to West African Ventures, WAV – a subsidiary of Sea Truck Group – has resued nine crew members on board an oil tanker near Brass, Bayelsa State.

    The tanker, MT Victoria 1, laden with 952.21 metric tons, MT, of automotive gas oil, AGO, had sent out a distress call, which was received by the crew of Jascon 20 in the early hours of July 1.

    Owned by Oilgate Nigeria Limited, the tanker had suffered water ingress into the engine and was sinking.

    After receiving the ditress call, Jascon 20, which is on charter to ExxonMobil’s Erha FPSO, sought and got clearance to proceed to the ditress location.

    Arriving around 1.30 hours, the WAV-owned vessel was able to rescue the nine crew members on board the oil vessel, moving them safely to the Erha FPSO.

    They were subsequently flown back to shore from the FPSO.
