power_transformer17 July 2013, Lokoja — The Kogi State Commissioner for Rural Development, Alhaji Umar Mohammed, said the ministry provided 22 communities with electricity in the past one year.

The commissioner disclosed this in Lokoja during a press briefing to mark one year of the creation of the ministry.

He said 18 electrification projects have been completed with 300 KVA-500 KVA transformers in the benefiting communities, and that electrification projects in six other communities have reached various stages of completion.

According to him, most of the communities where the projects were located just got electricity for the first time. Mohammed added that the ministry also executed 19 boreholes projects in different communities in the state as part of efforts to provide potable water for rural dwellers.
