23 November 2012, Sweetcrude, Abuja – FOLLOWING the controversy surrounding the Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB, currently before the National Assembly, and in a move to accelerate passage of the bill, the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream) has concluded plans to hold a one-day stakeholders summit to discuss the bill and controversy around it with the aim of identifying grey areas to eliminate delays.

Stakeholders in the oil and gas sector will take centre stage as the summit is also aimed at examining the likely effect of the PIB on the downstream sector of the oil and gas industry.

The summit has the theme: The Downstream Regime in the Petroleum Industry Bill: Stakeholders Perspective, and the topic is a booster to the bill which recently passed through its second reading in the House of Representatives.

The stakeholder’s forum which holds November 26 at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, is a direct fallout of the Nigerian Refining Capacity Summit which held earlier in March this year.
