WARRI-IN line with the Nigerian content policy of the Federal government, indigenous Nigerian oil and gas servicing company, Globestar Nigeria Limited has fabricated the nation’s first Christmas Tree used in drilling operations in the industry.
The company located in Warri has also trained about 200 Nigerian workers overseas to acquire various international Welding certificates, just as it has in its employment over 300 Nigerians and just six expatriates.
The Managing Director of the company, Mr. Olivier Blaringhem made these disclosures yesterday at the company premises when officials of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, paid a working visit to Globestar operations to evaluate its level of compliance with the Nigeria Local Content
Laws, saying that the company has successfully fabricated nine Christmas Trees with 12 more to be completed by 2012.
The NCDMB officials led by the Executive Director, Engr. Ernest Nwapa vowed to implement the local content law and ensure that companies in the country abide by this directive.
He commended the company for its achievements, noting that the system was made to boost the nation’s economy and also to ensure that Nigerians are gainfully employed in these companies.
Said he, “We believe it can be done and as a board representing the federal government of Nigeria, we are to make sure that capacity like this in Nigeria is utilized. We want to really see this capacity working in the Niger Delta and the country as a whole”, stressing that oil and gas producing communities should be carried along to afford them the opportunity of seeing themselves as part of the operation.
