13 September 2012, Sweetcrude, LAGOS – THE Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, MAN, says it has abandoned its plan to construct an independent power station to assist industries out of the nation’s perennial power crisis.
Chief Kola Jamodu, president of the association, said Wednesday in Lagos that the project meant to have been completed this year, would no longer be executed due to logistic reasons.
Jamodu, who made the disclosure at the presentation of ‘Blueprint for the Accelerated Development of Manufacturing in Nigeria’, said the project was called off as it would be difficult for the association to distribute the power generated to all its members across the country.
“We are encouraging members to build their own power plants. With all hands on deck, patience and consistency, we will achieve sufficient power generation and distribution in the country”, he said.
He recommended, in the blueprint, that government should be committed to good governance and sustain current reforms to achieve political and economic stability, and also win investors’ confidence.
