Port Harcourt — The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, has brokered a resolution between Enerog Limited and 14 host communities of the Ugbo 1 project, following escalating tensions over alleged violations of their Freedom to Operate, FTO, agreement.
At a meeting held at the Nigerian Content Tower in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, host community representatives accused Enerog of breaching agreed terms, including unauthorized deployment of a houseboat, refusal to engage community-nominated contractors, and overall non-compliance with engagement protocols.
Responding to the allegations, Enerog blamed the friction on internal conflicts within the communities but pledged to take corrective action.
The NCDMB, acting through its General Managers for Capacity Building, Barr. Esueme Dan Kikile, and Zonal Coordination, Mr. Ifeanyi Ukoha, facilitated the dialogue, which resulted in a clear resolution plan.
Enerog has been mandated to make all outstanding payments within 10 days and submit a signed resolution document to the NCDMB. In return, the communities are to provide a verified list of contractors for structured engagement and future project collaborations.
“The Board remains committed to enforcing responsible community engagement practices and will continue to monitor compliance to prevent breakdowns in relationships that can derail local content objectives,” said Barr. Kikile during the meeting.
The resolution is expected to ease tensions in the Ugbo 1 area and restore operational stability as Enerog continues its project activities under the watch of NCDMB.
