Lagos — The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, has lauded Nigeria’s movie industry for its significant contributions to the national economy, noting that the creative arts deserve every support and patronage for the sustained growth and development of the country.
The Director of the Capacity Building Directorate of NCDMB, Dr. Ama Ikuru, told outgoing trainees of a 7-week Film and TV Production Masterclass in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, that the movie industry is now as important as the oil and gas sector.
According to the Director, the oil and gas industry, which is the primary focus of the NCDMB in its capacity-building initiatives, has linkage sectors to which the creative arts and movie industry are closely connected.
He explained that people who produce oil and gas, when they shut down, watch movies, they look at the screen adding that the training programme secures the future of Nigeria’s movie industry because it’s going to feed the industry.
Dr. Ikuru commended the trainees for good conduct and dedication to the programme as well as excellent TV productions achieved. He promised further support to the organisers of the training and the trainees to take what they have achieved to higher levels.
The Chief Executive Officer of the training organisation, Mr. Jackson Iyabi expressed profound gratitude to the NCDMB for the sponsorship of the programme. He was equally grateful to the trainees for making the programme a huge success and assured them that his organisation would continue to be of support to them in developing their skills.
