20 August 2012, Sweetcrude, UMUAHIA—THE Chairman of Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, Dr. Sam Amadi, weekend, assured that the commission would protect the interest of consumers in the post privatised electricity industry.

This came as Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State charged the commission to develop the right attitude to work to ensure that the new electricity industry succeeded for Nigerians to enjoy increased electricity supply.

Amadi who spoke in Umuahia during Power Consumer Assembly organised by the commission, described the consumer as “very important stakeholder that must be informed and heard loudly and clearly.”

Amadi, who was represented by Patrick Umeh noted that the commission was poised to ensure that the electricity industry was modeled to achieve international best practice.
