    Nigeria targets 20,000Mw power generation by 2014

    Namadi-Sambo 109 June 2013, Abuja – The Nigerian government says it expects power generated in-country to hit 20,000 megawatts before the end of 2014

    The country’s Vice President, Mr. Namadi Sambo at a joint meeting of the NDPHC NCP at the presidential villa, Abuja, adding that all was set for President Goodluck Jonathan to start commissioning completed power plants across the country.

    Mr. Sambo disclosed that the issue of gas availability has been resolved and that everything is being done to resolve outstanding issues surrounding power transmission.

    The joint meeting also resulted in the establishment of three committees to fast-track the privatisation of 10 power generation plants and 11 power distribution companies under the National Independent Power Plants, NIPP, project.

    The Vice President also commended the management of the NDPHC for successfully completing the NIPP power plants.
