    Nigerians paid an average N145 per litre for petrol in June

    Lagos — Data obtained from the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics indicate that Nigerians paid an average N145 per litre for Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, in the month of June.

    The NBS revealed that the average price paid by consumers for premium motor spirit (petrol) decreased by -1.8% year-on-year.

    However, the average price increased by 0.2% month-on-month to N145.4 in June 2019 from N145.0 in May 2019.

    Newly released data by the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics, NBS said states with the highest average price of premium motor spirit (petrol) were Kogi (N147.91), Kebbi (N146.43) and Bayelsa (N146.25).
    States with the lowest average price of premium motor spirit (petrol) were Abuja (N144.20), Katsina (N144.13) and Benue (N144.00).

    On the other hand, the average price paid by consumers for automotive gas oil (diesel) decreased by -1.46% month-on-month and increased by 9.62% year-on-year to N224.69 in June 2019 from to N228.02 in May 2019.

    States with the highest average price of diesel were Borno (N266.67), Taraba (N250.00) and Abuja (N239.00).

    States with the lowest average price of diesel were Bayelsa (N204.17), Nasarawa (N196.91) and Plateau (N183.33).
