Namadi-Sambo 121 April 2013, Abuja – Vice President Namadi Sambo has directed the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, NDPHC, handlers of the National Integrated Power Projects, NIPP, to fast-track the completion of the Lokoja Power Plant to boost electricity supply to Abuja.

The Lokoja Power Plant, when completed, will supply electricity directlyto the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, and its satellite towns.

Sambo gave the directive in Abuja at an emergency meeting to address issues relating to the Ajaokuta and Lokoja NIPP’s substation and transmission lines under construction.

He further directed that the contractors handling the project should mobilise more manpower to site to ensure the smooth progress of work.

Sambo also called for the use of appropriate equipment to enable the pace of work progress according to specifications.

He further ordered the management of Niger Delta Power Holding Company, NDPHC, to make available to him the current programme of work to enable him ensure monitoring of the work progress to meet government’s set target.

Present at the meeting were the Minister of State for Power, Hajiya Zainab Kuchi, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Power, Amb. Godknows Igali, as well as representatives of the contractors and the consultants handling the project.
