Port Harcourt — The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA, has intensified engagement with key industry and institutional stakeholders as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration, advance gas-based transportation, and deepen policy dialogue across Nigeria’s energy sector.
The Authority Chief Executive, Engr. Saidu A. Mohammed, received several high-level delegations at the Authority’s headquarters in Abuja during a series of separate courtesy visits aimed at aligning professional bodies, government institutions, and the media with the evolving priorities of the petroleum industry.
One of the delegations was led by Engr. Francis Nwaochei, who headed members of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, SPE Nigeria Council.
The group sought collaboration with the Authority on key industry initiatives, including the Oloibiri Lecture Series and Energy Forum, OLEF, and the Nigeria Annual International Conference and Exhibition, NAICE.
The engagement, according to the delegation, highlights the critical role professional bodies play in advancing technical excellence and knowledge exchange within Nigeria’s petroleum sector.
In another meeting, the Director-General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council, NADDC, Mr. Oluwemimo Osanipin, led his management team to explore partnership opportunities with the Authority, particularly in promoting gas-powered transportation and cleaner energy alternatives for Nigeria’s mobility sector.
The discussions focused on how natural gas solutions could accelerate the country’s transition to more affordable and environmentally sustainable transportation systems.
The Authority Chief Executive also received the editorial team of Punch Newspapers, with both parties discussing the importance of stronger engagement with the media to enhance public understanding and transparency around developments in the midstream and downstream petroleum segments.
Similarly, the President of the Nigerian Association of Energy Economists, NAEE, visited the Authority to discuss energy policy issues, market development strategies, and the role of economic research in shaping sustainable energy planning in Nigeria.
Speaking during the engagements, Mohammed reiterated the Authority’s commitment to building stronger partnerships across the energy ecosystem.
He said the Authority remains focused on working closely with professional institutions, policy bodies, and the media to advance the implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act and strengthen Nigeria’s energy market.
According to him, the engagements provide a platform for “constructive dialogue on collaboration, policy alignment and stakeholder engagement needed to support the growth, efficiency and long-term sustainability of Nigeria’s energy industry.”
