    NUPENG calls off strike

    NUPENG-Logo-422 Octover 2015, Port Harcourt — The Nigerian  Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers , NUPENG, Wednesday called off its strike that had crippled fuel supply to Rivers State and its environs.

    A communiqué by the State Chairman, Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, Mr Chika Unuegbu , the Port Harcourt zonal Chairman of NUPENG, Mr Godwin Eruba and others, said at a stakeholders meeting in the office of the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Mr Kenneth Kobani, the management of Weatherford,   agreed to withdraw   the letters of redundancy issued   20 members of NUPENG and Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria,    PENGASSAN, pending conclusion of negotiation between the firm and the unions.

    According to the communiqué, “it was also resolved at the meeting attended by representatives of the state Police Commissioner, Department of State Service, DSS and leaders of PENGASSAN.
