Lagos — The Ministry of Petroleum Resources has recorded another notable milestone in public service delivery, emerging as the second Best Performing Ministerial SERVICOM Unit, MSU, Team B in the 2025 SERVICOM Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDA’s, Performance Assessment Exercise.

The achievement was formally announced during the presentation of a Letter of Commendation and an Award Plaque by SERVICOM Headquarters to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, in Abuja.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Director and Head of the Reform Coordination and Service Improvement Unit, Mr. Akinwumi Akintan, explained that the recognition reflects the sustained commitment of the Ministry’s SERVICOM Unit to service excellence. He noted that the Unit distinguished itself through strict adherence to service standards, prompt resolution of complaints, and continuous service improvement.

According to him, the award underscores the Ministry’s growing culture of accountability, responsiveness, and people-centred governance, in line with the objectives of the SERVICOM Charter.

The award, he emphasized, was made in appreciation of demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment to service improvement and dedication to customer satisfaction in the Ministry.

While receiving the award on behalf of the Ministry, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Patience N. Oyekunle, expressed profound appreciation to SERVICOM Headquarters for the recognition. She commended the Ministry’s SERVICOM Unit for its dedication, professionalism, and teamwork, which culminated in the outstanding performance.

Mrs. Oyekunle, however, urged the Unit to remain focused and aspire to even greater heights.

“A lot is expected from you, and as the saying goes, the reward for hard work is more work,” she stated.

She however charged the Unit to target the position of the best performing SERVICOM Unit in the next assessment cycle.

The Permanent Secretary assured the Unit of Management’s continued support, noting that the Ministry would, within available resources, strengthen the Unit to enable it to effectively discharge its mandate.

The SERVICOM Performance Award is part of the government’s initiative aimed at institutionalizing service excellence, improving transparency, strengthening public confidence in government institutions, and ensuring efficient service delivery across Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs.

The presentation ceremony was witnessed by some Directors and management staff of the Ministry.
