Port Harcourt — The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Plc, PHED has engaged communities in Bayelsa State, over issues bordering on power supply, vandalism of electricity infrastructures, hostility, entitlement and energy theft.

The engagement, according to the Port Harcourt Disco, was part of a weeklong programme on customer-centric activities held in Bayelsa, following the company’s commitment to ensuring that customers are given exceptional service at all levels.

Among the Communities engaged by PHED include Polaku, Okolobiri, Ogboloma, Agbia, Nedugo, Koroama, Koboama etc.

Speaking, the Managing Director of PHED, Dr Benson Uwheru, said the engagement is imperative to ensure that electricity supply is available in every nook and cranny of the company’s catchment areas, assuring that the management will resolve all the issues affecting the engaged communities.

Uwheru speaking through PHED Head, Corporate Communications, Olubukola Ilevbare, also appealed to communities to pay their outstanding bills to enable the company to serve them better.

He also encouraged the communities to be vigilant over electricity assets in their domain due to the spate of vandalism of electrical infrastructures by hoodlums.

Responding on behalf of the Paramount Ruler of the Gbarnin Clan, Chief T. Tarilla, commended the management of PHED for the engagement and assured that the communities will collaborate with the company on all fronts for a lasting mutually beneficial relationship.

“We commend the management of PHED for their responsiveness and commitment to restore customers’ confidence when we thought that all hopes were lost. This is the dawn of a new day.”
