Port Harcourt — The Petroleum Technology Development Fund, PTDF, and the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, NEITI, have renewed commitments to deepen institutional collaboration aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, and investor confidence in Nigeria’s extractive industry.
The renewed partnership was reaffirmed during a courtesy visit by the Executive Secretary of Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, Hon. Musa Sarkin Adar, to the Executive Secretary of Petroleum Technology Development Fund, Prof. Shua’ibu Shehu Aliyu, at the PTDF Towers in Abuja.
The NEITI delegation visited to congratulate Prof. Aliyu on his recent appointment and discuss ways of strengthening existing collaboration between both institutions within Nigeria’s oil, gas and mining sectors.
Speaking during the meeting, Adar commended PTDF for its sustained investments in human capital development within the energy industry and appealed for support towards the forthcoming Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, EITI, validation exercise.
He noted that NEITI’s operations had continued to improve transparency and accountability within the sector by exposing leakages and strengthening governance systems.
“NEITI’s transparency framework has improved Nigeria’s investment climate, leading to renewed confidence in upstream licensing and infrastructure projects,” Adar stated.
The NEITI boss added that stronger institutional cooperation among government agencies remained critical to sustaining reforms and improving Nigeria’s global reputation within the extractive industry.
Responding, Prof. Aliyu appreciated the visit and reaffirmed PTDF’s commitment to supporting collaborative initiatives that advance national development objectives within the energy sector.
He stressed the need for stronger synergy among public institutions, noting that national interest must remain the overriding objective of government agencies.
“Every institution must work towards achieving one common goal, one purpose, and one agenda for the Nigerian state,” Aliyu said.
The PTDF Executive Secretary further assured the delegation of the Fund’s readiness to deepen cooperation with NEITI while continuing to focus on its mandate of building technical and professional capacity for Nigeria’s petroleum industry.
