15 May 2015, Lagos – A group, Action Group Against Corruption, AGAC, has urged Delta State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, to release the N7.5 billion allegedly meant for payment of contractors of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, to the commission.
The group, in a statement yesterday, alleged that the governor had advised that the payment should be delayed till after the 2015 general elections, so as to avoid making funds available for opposition parties in the state to fight the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The statement by the group’s Chairman, Chief Emuobonuvie Asieghwu, expressed worry over the alleged non-payment of the money, several weeks after the elections were concluded.
