Resist take-over of PHCN’s power installations – NUEE

phcn19 September 2013, KADUNA — The National Union of Electricity Employees, NUEE, has called on its members to resist forceful take over of power installations belonging to the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, by the new owners in the country unless their severance allowances were settled by the Federal Government.

The General Secretary of the union, Mr Joe Ajaero, gave the directive while addressing members of the union from the North-West Zone in Kaduna yesterday.

Ajaero, who spoke through the Assistant General Secretary of NUEE, Moses Ahmedu, said the directive became imperative following alleged moves by the government to handover on paper, all PHCN facilities to investors without conclusively resolving labour and other related issues.

“This action would be suicidal on our part if we allowed the investors access to any of our facilities while the issues remain unresolved by the government, especially as they appear to be reneging.”
