13 June 2018, News Wires – Spain’s imports of liquefied natural gas percent dropped 8.3 percent in May on a yearly basis, according to the data provided by the LNG terminal operator, Enagás.

LNG imports reached some 12 terawatt hours (TWh) in May as compared to 13 TWh in the same month the year before, the data shows.

Total natural gas imports, including piped supplies, rose 2.5 percent to 30.1 TWh.

Qatar was the biggest LNG supplier to Spain last month with 5 TWh, followed by Nigeria with 3.6 TWh.

Comparing these volumes year-on-year, Qatari LNG supplies rose 23 percent, while Nigerian volumes increased 14.3 percent.

The rest of Spain’s May LNG volumes were sourced from Trinidad and Tobago (2.7 TWh), Algeria (0.5 TWh), and Angola. Algerian LNG volumes dropped sixfold year-on-year, according to the Enagás data.

The Barcelona regasification plant received five LNG cargoes out of the total 13 cargoes imported into Spain during the month under review.

Huelva handled four LNG cargoes in May while two were unloaded at the Bilbao facility.

The Sagunto and Mugardos facilities received one cargo of the chilled fuel, each. Mugardos also reloaded a small cargo of 24 GWh.
