“Today, we are not only teaching them through workshops, lectures and on-the-spot extension services free-of-charge, we have gone ahead to give them large number of free samples of what we want them to do,” he said.

He said the commission, which would be known as the Nigerian Mining Commission, would not only be the final authority on regulatory matters, but would also take charge of mining leases.
He said that mining sector was promising to be a major catalyst of development goals and consistent implementation of well thought-out reforms and strategic partnerships with key stakeholders for success and sustainability of the reforms.
“If well executed, the ambition, combined with realistic plan can unlock value for the Nigerian people with the potential to contribute to the GDP through its significant multiplying effect,” it said.
“It is a sector that seems to have defiled recession, according to the bureau of statistics, its growing while other sectors may be experiencing challenges; that is not to say that we have reached Eldorado. But, it is a journey and we are beginning to see concrete development and the President as you know also approved an intervention fund for this sector, the first of its kind in the history of the mining sector,” he said.
