Port Harcourt — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Lagos for Europe to continue his end-of-year break, ahead of his official participation in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, ADSW, Summit in the United Arab Emirates.

The President left Nigeria yesterday following an invitation from His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, to attend the high-level sustainability gathering scheduled to hold early January in Abu Dhabi.

According to a statement issued by the presidential media aide, Bayo Onanuga, the weeklong Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week is a global platform that convenes leaders from government, business, finance, and civil society to shape strategies for the next phase of sustainable development worldwide.

The statement reads in part, “The 2026 edition of the summit is themed “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” and will focus on linking ambition with concrete action across innovation, finance, and human capital, while showcasing pathways for accelerating sustainable growth with confidence.

*President Tinubu’s participation underscores Nigeria’s continued engagement in global discussions on climate action, energy transition, sustainable development, and investment-driven solutions.

“The President is expected to return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the summit in January 2026.”
