Paris/Kigali — TotalEnergies has signed a memorandum of understanding with Rwanda Development Board (RDB) to deploy its multi-energy offer and contribute to the development of the energy sector.
The signing took place during the visit of Mr. Patrick Pouyanné, the Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, to the country.
The Rwanda Development Board is the country’s public body responsible for accelerating Rwanda’s economic development,
The agreement covers in particular:
– The marketing of energy products for mobility, including electric vehicle charging;
– The supply of LPG to replace the burning of biomass;
– The production of renewable hydroelectricity;
– Developing energy storage solutions for the power grid;
– The development of natural carbon sinks;
– The implementation of education and training programs on new energies and energy transition.
TotalEnergies also announced the creation of the subsidiary TotalEnergies Marketing Rwanda Ltd, and the opening of a permanent office in Kigali.
“This collaboration agreement illustrates TotalEnergies’ desire to deploy its multi-energy strategy in Africa, particularly in Rwanda, a country whose economy is booming,” said Patrick Pouyanné.
