    U.S. Gulf of Mexico oil output cut by 59% ahead of Hurricane Ida

    News wire — U.S. oil producers had shut-in 59% of Gulf of Mexico oil production on Friday as Hurricane Ida barreled towards the Louisiana coast, according to the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE).

    Some 49% of U.S. Gulf of Mexico natural gas production was also down, according a report released by BSEE.
