Lagos — Vipo has officially acquired the French technology company Demeta, a green chemistry company, enhancing Vipo’s innovation processes, material expertise and non-oil and gas applications. This includes catalysts, patents, and new technologies and puts Vipo in a position to execute new innovative projects in the coming years.

This acquisition increases Vipo’s focus on developing, manufacturing, and commercializing new materials for offshore and other applications.

Thor Hegg Eriksen, Managing Director at Vipo says, “This is an exciting and strategic move for us in our industry. Having collaborated closely with Demeta on previous and current R&D projects, we are pleased to welcome their expertise and capabilities to the team, allowing us to utilize their extensive knowledge and insight into next-generation catalysts for high performing materials. We are especially happy to get access to the Nextene™ family of DCPD materials. This opens new great opportunities for unique materials in new and existing markets.”

Prior to the acquisition, Vipo has partnered with Demeta in using their high-performance catalysts in the development of a range of thermal insulation materials including the latest R&D project, Vikotherm® R5. This strengthens and maintains the momentum on the Vikotherm® R5 development and allows for bringing new technologies into new markets.

This strategic move provides Vipo with a further head start into industries outside oil and gas, closely following the long-term business goals. The French based business will be fully taken over and managed by Vipo, removing the Demeta brand going forward.

Patrick Waal, Business Group Manager says “ I am looking forward to expanding our team with a highly qualified group of technical experts, researching and developing solutions for opportunities within non-oil and gas markets. This fully supports this Business Group’s strategy and the long-term strategy of Vipo.”

Founded in 2011, Demeta is a French green chemistry company developing next-generation catalysts for the production and marketing of high-performance materials and chemicals. The catalysts developed and patented by Demeta are molecular tools used at a very low dosage that simplify chemistry, making it possible to develop efficient, eco-responsible, safer and more competitive processes and products.

Vipo has decades of experience in offering high quality corrosion, fire protection and thermal insulation solutions for demanding environments. Vipo has been delivering high-performance polymer solutions to global industries since 1896 and with a foundation of outstanding materials expertise and customer service, we support the business goals of clients in a wide and growing range of sectors. Vipo specializes in elastomer material solutions from the design to manufacturing and delivery, making them a preferred technology partner.
