27 May 2015, Yenagoa – Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has said that the setting up a committee to review projects being executed by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, in the state, was not to witch-hunt anybody, but to ascertain if the state was getting its fair share from the intervention agency.

Dickson, in Yenagoa after receiving an interim report from the committee, expressed delight that the committee’s findings would assist the current administration determine the extent to which the commission had contributed to the development of the state.

Appreciating the Federal Government for establishing the NDDC, Dickson noted that the activities of the commission would go a long way in complementing the developmental efforts of the affected states, if well coordinated.

The governor also commended the chairman and members of the committee for doing what he described as a painstaking and diligent job and assured them of the government’s determination to study the report with a view to implementing it for the collective wellbeing of Bayelsans.

He said: “This state must be in a position to determine whether we are getting our fair share of NDDC intervention funds. Secondly, we are also interested in seeing to it that, those who are selected by the NDDC as contractors to execute intervention jobs in Bayelsa, actually do so. That is why this committee was put together, and I appreciate the painstaking job you have done.”
