London — Workers for industrial group Altrad at the Shell Bacton Gas terminal on Britain’s North Sea coast have voted in favour of strike action in a bid to get Altrad to raise pay, the GMB union said on Thursday.

Bacton Gas Plant handles up to a third of Britain’s gas supply fed by North Sea gas fields as well as importing and exporting gas from continental Europe, according to Shell’s website.
“It is in the best interests of Altrad management to reflect on this result, listen to our members, and come back to the table urgently,” said GMB Regional Organiser Paul Block.
“Failure to resolve this dispute will result in strike action, which would bring work on this site to a standstill.”
Shell did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
