Addis Ababa — Ethiopia’s military has not struck a hydroelectric dam in the northern region of Tigray where it is battling local forces, the government’s emergency taskforce said on Friday, denying a claim by the region’s president.

Debretsion Gebremichael said late on Thursday on Tigray TV the Tekeze dam had been hit by air strikes, knocking off power to the region.
