15 January 2017, Sweetcrude, Port Harcourt — There is tension currently in K-Dere Community, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, as youths of the community have set ablaze a coaster bus belonging to the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project, HYPREP.

The incident occurred when a team of HYPREP officials, led by its coordinator, Dr. Marvin Dekil, visited the area to hand over polluted sites in the community to contractors awarded contracts for the clean-up of oil-impacted sites.

Our correspondent, who was an eyewitness, reports that the youths were ready to create more havoc and set more vehicles ablaze, but for the prompt intervention of security operatives attached to HYPREP who whisked everyone on the entourage away.
