Lagos — The Customs Area Controller in charge of the Oyo/Osun Area Command, Comptroller Gambo Aliyu, has pledged stronger collaboration with the Department of State Services, DSS, and the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, in Oyo State, describing inter-agency cooperation as critical to national security and public safety.

According to a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Customs I, Akintola Abdulmalik, Comptroller Aliyu, accompanied by his management team, paid courtesy visits to the offices of both agencies in Ibadan.

At the DSS office, the CAC was received by the State Director, Rahim Adelakun. Comptroller Aliyu commended the DSS for its unwavering dedication to protecting lives and property, noting that its tireless efforts continue to safeguard peace, stability, and socio-economic growth.

Later, at the FRSC headquarters, the Area Controller was welcomed by the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Rosemary Alo.  He lauded the Corps’ commitment to road safety enforcement and public enlightenment noting that the Corps’ sustained advocacy has significantly reduced road accidents in the state.

Speaking on the need for inter-agency cooperation, he stated: “No government agency can function effectively in isolation. We must continue to support one another because inter-agency synergy is the foundation of national progress.”

In their goodwill messages, both the DSS and FRSC leadership assured Comptroller Aliyu of their readiness to strengthen existing partnerships with the Nigeria Customs Service for the collective good of the nation.

Comptroller Aliyu also paid a courtesy visit to three sister agencies, the Nigeria Correctional Service, NCoS, the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.

The visit was part of Comptroller Aliyu’s broader agenda to reinforce collaboration in securing Nigeria’s borders, tackling trans-border crimes and protecting national assets.

At the Nigeria Correctional Service, Comptroller Aliyu described the agency as a strategic partner in Nigeria’s security architecture, saddled with the critical mandate of reforming, rehabilitating, and reintegrating offenders into society.

He noted that the NCoS has made invaluable contributions to peace, stability, and socio-economic growth in the country.

Similarly, at the Nigeria Immigration Service, the Area Controller lauded the agency’s role as a frontline institution in safeguarding Nigeria’s borders.

He said: “Your unwavering professionalism and dedication in regulating migration remain essential to national security, migration management, and socio-economic stability. The NIS is a vital partner in curbing trans-border crimes and protecting the nation against illegal activities inimical to growth and development.”

While addressing senior officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Comptroller Aliyu acknowledged the agency as a reliable partner in safeguarding critical infrastructure, protecting lives and property, and maintaining internal security.

He praised the NSCDC for its contributions in combating smuggling and vandalism, stressing that its work consistently complements the operations of the Nigeria Customs Service.

He explained that the series of visits was aimed at deepening existing synergy among security institutions. He emphasised that stronger partnerships remain a vital step toward tackling common challenges and safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty.

Comptroller Aliyu reaffirmed that the Nigeria Customs Service, Oyo/Osun Area Command, is fully committed to working hand in hand with sister agencies to enhance national security, promote socio-economic development, and protect the nation’s territorial integrity.

The visits underscore Comptroller Aliyu’s ongoing commitment to inter-agency collaboration as a cornerstone of effective border management.
