Port Harcourt — The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil) Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, has emphasized the crucial role of the downstream sector in shaping Africa’s oil and gas industry, calling for greater efficiency, transparency, and value creation.
Speaking when he received the organizers of the OTL African Downstream Week, led by Mrs. Joyce Akabogu, Lokpobiri commended the initiative, describing it as vital for fostering collaboration and innovation in the sector.
“The downstream sector is where the impact of the oil and gas industry is most directly felt by the people. While the upstream sector remains critical, it is in the downstream that we must prioritize efficiency, transparency, and value creation to ensure broad-based benefits.”
He praised the OTL team for their dedication to driving value and facilitating knowledge-sharing within the sector.
“Their efforts are essential for the sustainable growth of the industry,” Lokpobiri added.
The meeting focused on how the OTL African Downstream Week can further contribute to policy formulation, investment opportunities, and technological advancements in Nigeria’s petroleum sector.
