Port Harcourt — The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, has commended Akwa Ibom State’s adoption of Compressed Natural Gas, CNG-powered Citi Buses, describing it as a bold step that aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic and clean energy agenda.

Speaking at the public presentation of the Socio-Economic Impact of the Arise Agenda in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Capital, Ekpo said the initiative reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to sustainable transportation as a driver of economic growth.

“The Arise Agenda aligns perfectly with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, especially in terms of energy, tourism, infrastructure, sustained economic growth, strengthening peace and security, and most importantly the deployment and adoption of Citi Bus/CNG transport system to drive the economy, which is the heartbeat of the President Tinubu-led administration,” Ekpo stated.

He praised Governor Pastor Umo Eno for delivering on his campaign promises and uniting the people of Akwa Ibom.

“Governor Umo Eno has delivered on his campaign promises and brought the people of Akwa Ibom together,” he said.

Ekpo noted that the CNG transport initiative not only reduces dependence on petrol but also positions the state as a key partner in the Federal Government’s clean energy transition efforts.

The event, themed “Measuring Progress, Deepening Impact,” was attended by the Honourable Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu, members of the Akwa Ibom State Executive Council, and other top government officials.

Governor Eno, in his remarks, outlined the measurable progress under the Arise Agenda, with emphasis on infrastructure, economic diversification, and environmentally friendly transport solutions.
