Port Harcourt — After more than 10 years of blackout, the Council Secretariat of Etinan Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State has been reconnected to the national grid, causing joyous jubilation in the area.

The restoration of power supply to the council on Monday saw elation from the staff who commended the Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area, Mr. Uko Umoh, for fulfilling his promise to provide a conducive environment to staff working in the council Secretariat.

Speaking, the Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area, Mr. Uko Umoh, said linking the Council Secretariat to the national grid was one of his plans to reposition the Council for maximum productivity.

Umoh recalled that on 20th December 2023 he met with the leadership of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), where he promised to provide a good working environment for all the staff.

He further assured he would commence the furnishing of staff offices and also give a facelift to the Council Secretariat in the next few weeks, and urged all the local government staff to always be available and active in their duty posts.
