06 June 2015, Minna – The Managing Director/CEO of Kaduna Electric (Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company), Mr. Garba Haruna, has announced a two month extension of the contract of its workers.

The contract will now terminate on July 31, 2015.
In a statement signed by the Head, Corporate Communications of the company, AbdulAzeez Abdullahi Garba who made the announcement in a memo to staff, also said the contact extension was to allow the management of the company to complete the ongoing evaluation of existing staff.

He said the contract was extended under the existing terms and conditions adding that all concerned staff will be issued letters of renewal of contract.

In another development, the managing director disclosed that staff welfare is key to actualising the vision of the company.

He said this at the closing ceremony of a two-day capacity building workshop on entrepreneurship and e-business management organised by the Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies, Kaduna Electric branch, held recently in Arewa House, Kaduna.

Garba asserted that “the staff welfare is as paramount to the company as its mission for quality service delivery.”

Earlier in his welcome address, the branch president of the association of senior staff of the company, Salisu Yusuf Daura, “pledged the association’s readiness to rejuvenate and turn the company to a world class service provider.”

He called on the new management to “grant a three month contract extension to the staff for thorough and excellent recruitment exercise to be carried out.”

The management of the company recently embarked on recruitment exercises both from within and outside the company with the view to re-position the company for efficient service delivery.

With this development, it is expected that the exercise shall be concluded by the end of July.
