Port Harcourt — The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to promoting indigenous participation in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, describing local content as the engine room for innovation, growth, and value retention.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by executives of Backbone Infrastructure Nigeria Limited, BINL, led by Group CEO Mr. Henry Owonka, the Minister underscored the critical role of homegrown service providers in driving sectoral transformation and boosting production.

Lokpobiri, on his official X handle, lauded BINL’s contributions to the industry and assured the company of the government’s support in creating an enabling environment for indigenous operators to thrive.

He said, “As we work to deepen participation and retain in-country value, indigenous service providers must remain at the forefront of our sectoral activities. Their involvement strengthens capacity and supports our goal of increased oil production.

“I commend BINL’s efforts and assure them of our continued support. Together, we can build a resilient and prosperous petroleum sector for the benefit of all Nigerians,” the Minister tweeted.
