Port Harcourt — The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, has lauded Green Energy International Limited for its milestone achievement, the completion of its Crude Oil Export Terminal, set for commissioning tomorrow, describing it as “a testament to local innovation, resilience, and Nigeria’s drive toward greater indigenous participation in the oil sector.”

Lokpobiri made the remarks when he received the company’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Anthony O. Adegbulugbe, who paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja. The meeting focused on strengthening indigenous participation, deepening collaboration, and enhancing value creation across Nigeria’s upstream oil and gas value chain.

“I commend Green Energy for this milestone achievement. The new crude oil export terminal is not just a project — it is a symbol of what Nigerian ingenuity can achieve when supported by sound policies and determination.”

He commended the company’s commitment to national growth, describing Green Energy’s progress as a “shining example of how indigenous operators can transform the oil and gas landscape through innovation and technical excellence.”

The Minister reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for indigenous operators to thrive, stressing that local companies remain central to Nigeria’s goal of maximizing in-country value and achieving energy self-sufficiency.

“We will continue to support indigenous oil and gas companies to grow stronger. Our policies are focused on empowering Nigerian entrepreneurs to take ownership of our resources and build capacity that can compete globally.”

According to him, the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is prioritizing reforms that promote ease of doing business, investment incentives, and asset optimization, all aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s energy sector.

“We are building a framework where local operators like Green Energy can expand operations, access financing, and contribute significantly to national output,” he said.

Lokpobiri reaffirmed that Nigeria’s future in oil and gas lies in strong indigenous participation, technological advancement, and sustainable resource management, adding: “We will continue to work hand-in-hand with companies like Green Energy to ensure that Nigeria’s oil wealth truly benefits Nigerians.”

In his remarks, Prof. Adegbulugbe, a former Special Adviser on Energy to the President, thanked the Minister for his leadership and policy support toward indigenous oil firms, noting that Green Energy’s achievements were made possible through an enabling environment created by the government.

“Our vision at Green Energy has always been to demonstrate that Nigerian companies can develop and operate world-class oil assets,” Adegbulugbe said. “The commissioning of our crude export terminal tomorrow represents a major leap in that direction.”

He added that the company remains committed to sustainability, environmental protection, and community development, aligning its operations with global best practices and Nigeria’s energy transition goals.

“This project will not only enhance crude evacuation efficiency but also create jobs and stimulate local economic growth,” he said.
