Port Harcourt — An aggrieved ex-worker of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has dragged the firm before the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, demanding the sum of N25billion and reinstatement, over alleged unlawful termination of his appointment.
When the matter came up at the NICN in Port Harcourt, Justice Faustina Kola-Olalere adjourned the case to March 18, 2021, on the motion to amend statement of defence.
The Claimant, Dr. Williams Abomaye-Nimenibo, had approached the court praying an order of court to set aside the his alleged suspension and subsequent dismissal from service by the defendant (NNPC).
The claimant asked the court to reinstate him to the services of the Defendant and all benefits, entitlements, welfare packages be paid from 15th February, 2018, till date of judgement, while demanding the sum of N25billion be paid by the Defendant for breach of contract and unlawful dismissal.
During the court proceedings, Counsel representing the defendant, Precious JohnMark, informed the court on the motion which they had filed to amend their statement of defence.
While Counsel to the Claimant, Finjite Amachree, objected to the motion for the defendant to amend an already amended statement.

After listening to arguments of both Counsels in the matter, Justice Faustina Kola-Olalere, adjourned the case to March 18, 2021, for hearing on motion.
Speaking to newsmen after the court session, Counsel to the Claimant, said his client’s dismissal by the defendant was wrongful; while Counsel representing the Defendant, decline comments.
