Port Harcourt — The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Simbi Kesiye Wabote on Monday commissioned a valve assembly centre established by TAG Energy Limited in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.

This is the second of such ceremonies performed by the NCDMB chieftain in the last month in Port Harcourt and serves as a firm demonstration of the growth of Nigerian businesses and their contribution to the development of in-country capacities and capabilities.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary stated that “the Nigerian Oil and Gas Service companies play crucial roles in the provision of services and sustenance and growth of the Nigerian oil and gas industry.”

He commended companies that offer services to the industry and make their mark through the provision of top-notch services to diverse clientele in the oil and gas industry.

Wabote disclosed that the Nigerian Content Equipment Certificate (NCEC) is one of the important tools introduced by the Board to encourage local manufacturing, assembly, fabrication, threading, coating, repair/maintenance, calibration, and testing of equipment.

He added that the NCEC has helped to drive the establishment and development of facilities and infrastructure for local manufacturing and related activities in collaboration with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), investors and technical partners. He stated further that the NCEC has helped to promote the development and growth of human capital, especially local skilled manpower and industry/technology experts.

While applauding TAG Energy Limited for contributing to the attainment of the Nigerian Content 10-year strategic roadmap, the Executive Secretary noted that the company’s facility is a one-stop-shop for valve supply and repair services with a trained team of competent and resourceful engineers to carry out repairs and maintenance of valves on-site by reducing the off-site refurbishment.

He disclosed that the valve assembly plant provides a wide range of valve supplies, repairs, and maintenance services including Control Valve repairs, Ball, Gate, Global and Check Valves, Sleeved and Lined Plug Valves, High-Performance Butterfly Valves and Pneumatic Actuators.

“TAG Energy Limited is an integrated service company offering a comprehensive range of oilfield products and services in the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry,” Wabote added.

He implored other service companies to emulate TAG Energy by investing in manufacturing and provision of services that will benefit the Nigerian economy.

In his welcome address, the Managing Director, TAG Energy Limited, Mr. Yemi Gbadamosi appreciated the Board for its passion to grow Local Content and Nigerian businesses in the oil and gas industry. He mentioned that the assembling centre will produce valves for the local markets as well as for exports, within and beyond the African continent.

According to Gbadamosi, “Our investment in this modest facility is not only to provide premium services to our clients but also to serve as a training center for young Nigerians especially those from our host communities who suffer most of the negative impact of the exploration and production activities.”

Highlights of the commissioning ceremony were goodwill messages from representatives of international and local oil-producing companies and a tour of the facility.
