Port Harcourt — Nigeria and Saudi Arabia are exploring stronger collaboration in the oil sector as part of renewed bilateral engagements between both countries, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, has said.
Lokpobiri disclosed this after receiving the Chargé d’Affaires of the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia, H.E. Saad Fahad Almarri, in Abuja, where both officials met to review strategic areas of mutual economic interest.
According to the Minister, the discussion focused on new investment openings, technology exchange, and stronger cooperation to stabilise and grow both countries’ energy sectors.
“We discussed strengthening collaboration within our bilateral relationship, with particular attention to opportunities in the oil sector,” Lokpobiri said.
He added that Nigeria remains committed to partnerships that advance shared prosperity.
“We are committed to deepening cooperation in ways that support mutual economic growth and long-term stability,” he stated.
The meeting comes at a time Nigeria is seeking deeper foreign investment to boost crude oil output, accelerate refinery feedstock security, and strengthen overall energy performance.
