Abuja — The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPC Ltd, and Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL, are working on measures to increase crude oil production from their joint ventures, with fresh drilling and development activities identified as key to lifting output.

This is as the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, held discussions with executives of CNL led by its Chairman and Managing Director, Chevron Nigeria/Mid-Africa Business Unit, Mr. Jim Swartz, in Abuja.

The discussions focused on raising production from the NNPC/CNL Joint Venture, particularly the drilling and development work required to increase volumes.

The partners also reviewed near-term steps to support the targeted production increase and advance development activities within the joint venture.

The meeting comes as Nigeria seeks to raise crude oil production through increased upstream investment, improved operational efficiency and the development of existing petroleum assets.

NNPC Ltd and Chevron have continued to collaborate on oil and gas production and development activities under their joint venture arrangement.
