Lagos — The Director-General of the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency, NOSDRA, Engr. Chukwuemeka Woke, has reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to supporting oil and gas operators through transparent and collaborative engagement aimed at reducing oil spills and protecting the environment.
Engr. Woke made this known during a courtesy visit by officials of Seplat Energy Producing Nigeria Unlimited, SEPNU, to the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
Welcoming the delegation, the NOSDRA boss emphasized that transparency and partnership remain key to addressing environmental challenges in the oil and gas sector.
He noted that open communication between operators and the agency would enhance cooperation, help identify operational gaps, and ensure timely resolution of field-related challenges.
The Director-General assured Seplat Energy of NOSDRA’s readiness to provide regulatory guidance and institutional support whenever required, in line with the agency’s mandate to ensure environmental compliance and sustainability.
Speaking on behalf of Seplat Energy, the General Manager, Safety, Health and Environment, SHE, Mrs. Omolola Ani, thanked the Director-General for the warm reception. She explained that the visit was to familiarize the company with the agency’s leadership and to discuss challenges encountered during field operations with a view to finding practical solutions.
Mrs. Ani stated that Seplat Energy operates with integrity and remains committed to collaborating with NOSDRA to achieve improved environmental outcomes and compliance across its operations.
Also present at the meeting were Mr. Thaddeus Nwaozor and Ms. Tauhida Zayyad from Seplat Energy, alongside members of NOSDRA’s management team. The visit concluded with a group photograph.
