Mkpoikana Udoma 20 July 2016, Sweetcrude, Port Harcourt – The Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, says adulterated engine lubricants could damage cars and other machines, hence, members of the union caught in the act of selling adulterated products would be sanctioned.
National Industrial Relations Officer of NUPENG, Mr. Bassey Harry, issued the warning in Port Harcourt while addressing members of the union, who are lubricant dealers, saying sale of fake and adulterated products would no longer be tolerated.
Harry explained that the union would not allow its members to do whatever they wished to the detriment of the public, and warned the dealers to shun selling adulterated engine lubricants to unsuspecting members of the public.
He disclosed that the union in collaboration with the Standard Organisation of Nigeria, SON, and the Nigeria Police Force, has set up a task force to monitor the activities of engine lubricant dealers across the country.
According to him, “You deal in engine oil (lubricants); how do you feel if a person buys your oil, puts it in his car engine and the bad engine oil damages engine of the person’s car?
“We will not allow engine lubricant dealers to be a branch of NUPENG that will destroy the image of NUPENG. We must desist from selling adulterated engine lubricants. If you sell genuine oil, you will be in business.
“So, don’t sell adulterated oil so that motorists and other users of your product will not abandon you and only buy the products in big fuel stations. Henceforth, you must sell original engine lubricants,” Harry said.
