30 June 2012, Sweetcrude, LAGOS – MOBIL Producing Nigeria Unlimited, the local unit of ExxonMobil in the West African country, has contracted Italian firm, Saipem, for its Asasa pressure maintenance project.
Saipem has also won a contract from Aveon Offshore for the Usari FA-FR risers and Edop pipeline extension projects.
And in Angola, Chevron offshoot, Cabinda Gulf Oil, has signed up Saipem joint venture, Petromar, for two development projects on Block 0 in the southern part of the Mafumeira field 30 kilometres off the country’s coast.
As part of the Angolan contract, Petromar will provide engineering, procurement and pre-fabrication services for modifications and tie-in on the existing Mafumeira Norte platform as well as on the future Mafumeira Sul production platforms.
The contract will be executed between the fourth quarter next year and the second quarter of 2015.
“These contracts include the fabrication and installation of pipelines, ranging in diameter between 12 and 14 inches, and of risers and subsea spools in the Asasa, Usari and Edop fields,” Saipem said of the Nigeria contracts.
“The fields are located offshore the Akwa Ibom State, in south-eastern Nigeria, in a maximum water depth of 50 metres. The marine activities will be performed by the derrick/lay barge S355.”
Saipem also said it had agreed changes in scope to various other offshore contracts and put the total value of all the deals at around $350 million.
On Wednesday the Italian said it had won a contract from Shell to engineer, design and construct the 40-kilometre Otamara-Saghara-Escravos pipeline in Nigeria’s Niger Delta.
It also announced a day earlierthat Addax Petyroleum has extended its contract with Saipem’s Scarabeo 3 drillingrig for a further period until February 2014 for operations off Nigeria.
