According to him, “If the mining sector is truly structured in a way and manner that favours sub-national development, it will increase revenue accruable to states.”
He said with government’s intervention by setting up equipment hiring centres in places where high level of mining activities are going on, it would go a long way to boost the productivity of miners, particularly those who are not buoyant to afford major equipment.
He added that the 1964 act was prepared to meet the situations as at then, adding that the penalties and fines in the act were too soft compare to the gravity of offences being committed by explosive users nowadays.
