The System Operator (OS) has reported that an average of 1,000 megawatts (mw) is rejected daily by the Discos.

The Discos have refused to take up an average of 2,784.6MW every day for distribution to their customers, thereby suggesting that the rejected volumes were produced by the Gencos, and the TCN willing to transmit them.

“Government will not stand in the way of such an agreement. It is consistent with the intent of privatisation envisioned by the Electric Power Sector Reform Act or at least it does not violate the Act.”
“The Federal Government is doing its best to ensure improvement in electricity supply. Government has embarked on serious expansion of transmission capacity with some power plants already completed, while others have reached advance stages of completion,” he added.

The minister noted that nothing in the Electricity Power Sector Reforms Act (EPSRA) precludes States from doing producing their own power, adding that unlike in the past few years, there have been improvements in power generation in the country.
“NERC agreed that the N50,000 penalty was not enough and promised to look into the matter and report back in the coming week,” the document stated.
The bureau noted that daily energy generation attained a peak of 4,079 Megawatts (MW) on May 29th, and daily energy sent out on same day was 4,014MW.
Residents in the area stated in the letter that EKEDC was billing a 2-bedroom flat between N15,000 and N20,000 monthly and also accused its officials of harrassing residents with threat to disconnect them in a plot to further extort and collect bribe.
