    Task force on power gets N523m budget

    06 February 2012, Sweetcrude, ABUJA—MINISTER of Power, Professor Barth Nnaji, has disclosed that the Presidential Task Force on Power (PTFP) will spend N523,586,881 this year.

    According to him, N570,000,000 was appropriated for same, released and utilised in 2011.

    Disclosing this during his budget defence before the Senator Philip Aduda-led Senate Committee on Power, Professor Nnaji said the performance of the capital budget of N23,751,505,088 in 2011 was 97.37%.

    The minister said all the generation companies (GENCOS) across the country would spend N7,882,666,412.

    Afam Power Plc would spend N500,000,000.00; Ughelli, N2,513,660,403.00; Egbin, N876,331,928.00; Kainji Hydro Electric Plc, N752,983,150.00; Jebba, N644,572,200.00; Sapele, N801,000,000.00; Shiroro, N759,606,123.00; Geregu, N260,525,000.00; Omotosho, N149,556,080.00; and Olorunshogo, N624,431,728.00.

    He said: “In the 2012 budget estimate, distribution companies will spend N8,853,016,886 with Abuja getting N1,305,941,079; Benin, N973,669,046; Eko, N510,333,343; Enugu, N1,949,944,043; Ibadan, N562,048,712; Ikeja, N544,772,155; Jos, N523,720,638; Kaduna, N843,578,776; Kano, N530,822,331; Port Harcourt, N467,465,751; Yola N640,721,012 while Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission will spend N327,092,978.”
