29 August 2018, Sweetcrude, Lagos — Trelleborg’s offshore operation will exhibit at the Congreso Mexicano del Petroleo (CMP) in Acapulco, Mexico, showcasing its latest solutions including passive fire protection and thermal insulation materials for the Gulf of Mexico region.

Located on stand 138, the operation will highlight its portfolio of topside and subsea products including its topside Jet Fire resistant Passive Fire Protection (PFP) products. The company’s Pemex NRF 127 approved deluge and sprinkler system, Elastopipe, which is type approved for extreme conditions will also be on the stand along with the company’s subsea flow control Vikotherm™ insulation materials.

Ole Bjørn Rasmussen, Sales Manager for Trelleborg’s offshore operation in Norway, states: “We are committed to continuing our work in Mexico to help educate and develop specifications aimed at improving fire safety solutions used in harsh offshore environments. In offshore environments, fire safety is of the utmost importance, as the occurrence of fire on any structure can endanger onboard personnel and cause extensive damage to assets. In its third year, Trelleborg’s safety education initiative for the Gulf of Mexico focuses on helping develop specifications aimed at improving fire safety solutions used in harsh offshore environments.

“By specifying effective and reliable passive fire protection systems for offshore oil and gas platforms, operators in Mexico can increase the safety of personnel and offshore assets, while at the same time reducing risks, the possibility of event escalation and production downtime. We believe that ensuring safety onboard any production facility is absolutely vital to minimizing fire hazards and is a key priority for the region.”

Safety on offshore oil and gas installations is of paramount importance, and the need to have effective and reliable passive fire protection solutions has never been greater to ensure onboard safety. Trelleborg’s offshore operation is committed to supplying high performance, robust and dependable solutions that significantly improve onboard safety to protect personnel, equipment, critical components and structures in demanding environments.

    On Stand Solutions at CMP
FireNut™ is a lightweight, easy to install protection for bolted connections or flanges on offshore installations. It specifically protects just the nuts of a bolted connection or flange, is easy to install and extends the service life in the event of a fire.

Vikodeck™ is designed to offer surface protection against blast, jet and pool fire in harsh offshore oil and gas environments. It provides excellent corrosion protection and anti-fatigue damping support for the comfort and safety of employees.

Elastopipe™ is a patented flexible piping system developed for transporting a variety of fluids and is the first corrosion-free, explosion, impact and jet fire resistant flexible piping system approved for offshore deluge systems.

Standardized Buoyancy Modules are modular in design to allow smaller elements to be stacked together, enabling the customer to customize uplift requirements as specified for each project.

Rotating Buoyancy Modules can be used on subsea pipelines or flowlines to reduce berm creation and create predictable, safe buckling zones. The modules practically eliminate rouge buckling.

Vikotherm® is a range of wet insulation materials used to prevent formation of hydrate plugs and wax build-up in subsea structures.

    CMP
CMP is Mexico and Latin-America´s most important forum for scientific and technological exchange associated with gas and oil exploration and production. The goal of CMP is to establish and unveil cutting-edge technologies with success around the world, in order to be applied in the Mexican industry in fields such as exploration, production, drilling and industrial safety.
