07 February 2012, Sweetcrude, UZERE – THE Commissioner representing Delta State on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Chief Solomon Ogba , has said the target of the new board is to ensure the completion of all projects embarked upon by the commission.
Consequently, he said the board would tackle the problem of delay in payments for jobs .
Chief Ogba stated this, Tuesday, at Uzere in Isoko South Local Government Area of the state while inspecting the 23.19Km Uzere/Patani Road, being handled by S.O. Olotu & Sons Limited .
According to Ogba, “The importance of this road cannot be over-emphasized, our people will find it easy to access Port- Harcourt easily when it is completed.
“This board is desirous of finishing all projects, there won’t be funding problems because we are determined to achieve our set goals.
“I am impressed with the quality of job done, I never thought that an indigenous company can execute such a quality job.”
Responding, chairman, Olotu & Sons Ltd, Dr. S.O. Olotu said “We are known for high quality jobs, we promise to deliver on time, we only want adequate payment so that we will not be hindered”.
“We hope that the board stand by their promise of prompt payment and assistance of helping to get bank loan. Despite the challenging terrain, I assure that by next year the project will be completed.”
Former president general, Uzere, Mr. Emmanuel Ekebe, asserted, “We are happy for this on site assessment visit by the commissioner. We appeal that the contractor be supported to ensure the easy completion of the project.”
Special Senior Adviser to Delta State Government on NDDC, Chief Ferguson Onwo, was among those who accompanied Chief Ogba on the tour.
