    Egypt earmarks EGP10bn for Investments to tackle increased power demand

    Electricity02 September 2013, Cairo – Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Energy Ahmed Emam said that some EGP 10 billion will be allocated for implementing urgent projects for enhancing the power grid before the coming summer.

    This, in addition to other EGP 15 billion to overcome the power supply deficit, he added.

    The electricity sector has worked out a plan envisaging a number of projects to be operational in summer 2014 in partnership with the private sector.

    The plan falls within the context of a five-year plan to be implemented till 2017 with aggregate investments of well over EGP 120 billion.
