08 March 2012, Sweetcrude, ANTANANARIVO – Madagascar Oil said, Thursday, it now expects first oil production from its Tsimiroro field late this year after delays that led to failure of the plan in 2011.
The delay was caused mainly by disagreement with the government of the country over ownership of the heavy oil field, which lasted six months.
Laurie Hunter, chief executive officer of the company, said both the company and the country eagerly await the field’s start-up, adding that it would be “an historic event in that it will represent the first sustained production in Madagascar”.
